Merry fiX-MAS!

Tis the season to give so Alabama Spay/ Neuter has joined forces with Greater Birmingham Humane Society, Chilton Humane Society, Shelby Humane Society to organize a free spay and neuter day, a.k.a Merry fiX-MAS.  This is important because we have reached out to the people out there who can not afford to get their pet spayed or neutered.. This is just one way we are giving back to the community.

On our Merry fiX-MAS we sterilized 62 pets: 20 for the Greater Birmingham Humane society, 10 for Chilton County Humane Society, 12 for Shelby County Humane Society and 20 from other various animal activists. Our fiX-MAS doctors are Dr. Kelly Johnson and Dr. Margret Ferrell.
“Through collaborative efforts we are able to give free spay and neuters to those who are less fortunate... We hope to have more of these free days with the help of passionate donors, giving the gift of $5,000 which equals one free spay/neuter day.” says Danielle Pelt Marketing Specialist of Alabama Spay/Neuter.
Alabama Spay/Neuter is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that has performed nearly 28,000 high quality spay/neuter surgeries since June 2008. Alabama Spay/Neuter's mission is to prevent the over population and euthanasia of companion animals in Central Alabama by providing high quality, low cost spay/neutering.

A Call To Arms and Paws

Alabama Spay/Neuter
Needs your help!

Communities throughout Alabama face a population crisis in Animal Shelters. Cats and dogs reproduce rapidly and, as their numbers grow, so does the noise, odor, and other problems. But now there is a low cost, high quality solution!

Alabama Spay/Neuter is calling on individuals, humane groups, rescuers, and animal welfare groups to help us. We have a transport that goes to counties surrounding Birmingham and we need your help in promoting this service in your community. We are also looking for volunteers that can transport dogs and cats to and from the Clinic, especially in areas that we do not currently reach with our transport.

For more details on how you can help dogs and cats in your area please call us at 205.423.6624. For more information on our services call 205.956.0012 or visit our website www.alspay.org

Record Breaking Day!

Alabama Spay/Neuter busted 102 surgeries in one day!

Since June 2008, Alabama Spay/ Neuter has been busy performing high quality, low cost surgeries. On November 15, 2010 Alabama Spay/ Neuter hit an all time record of spaying and neutering 102 animals in one day with the hard work of three vets Dr. Kelly Johnson, Dr. Margaret Ferrell, and Dr. Haley Burke. Thanks to our highly dedicated staff the performance was handled professionally and safely.

"We are very proud of our doctors and technicians for an amazing job and being so passionate about their work." commented Carolyn Tittle, Director of Surgical Procedures.

The number of pets spayed/neutered was 41 female cats, 20 female dogs, 31 male cats and 11 male dogs, making a total of 102 surgeries. In the future we hope to surpass this record by achieving our goal of performing 120 to 150 surgeries in one day with the aid of 4 veterinarians.
